Following a devastating knee injury, the New York Liberty announced that guard Epiphanny Prince has undergone successful surgery to repair a ACL tear she suffered while playing overseas for her Russian club Dynamo Kursk. Per the official press release by the Liberty:
The New York Liberty announced today that guard Epiphanny Prince this morning underwent surgery to repair a torn right anterior cruciate ligament and two right lateral meniscus tears. The procedure was performed at Hospital for Special Surgery.
Prince suffered the injury during a Euroleague contest against Villeneuve on Nov. 11, while competing with her Russian club team Dynamo Kursk.
“I want to thank my teammates and the staff at the New York Liberty and at Dynamo Kursk for their support, and all the friends who have reached out to offer their well-wishes,” said Prince. “Injury is always difficult and the last few weeks have not been easy — I miss basketball and being on the floor competing, but I am committed to doing everything I can to get healthy as soon as possible. In the meantime, I will also be working to finish my degree at Rutgers and look forward to having the chance to cheer the team on in person for the first time in many years.”
Recovery time here is key, especially if the Liberty plan to finish what they started last season and make it all the way to the finals. Epiphany is a critical piece to their formula of success, especially offensively. Wishing Piph a healthy and speedy recovery!
