So … ESPN has apparently heard the loud and proud WNBA faithful loud and clear that has been clamoring for more WNBA re-airs during this coronavirus-induced sports desert we are all traveling through.
Friday night will be a pure W night between the draft and the re-airing of last year’s Game 5 of the WNBA Finals which saw the Washington Mystics defeat the Connecticut Sun to win the franchise’s first-ever WNBA championship.

But that is not all – far from it. The Thursday night prior to draft night will basically be a WNBA marathon on ESPN2. The Deuce will air Game One of the 2016 WNBA Finals featuring rivals Los Angeles Sparks and Minnesota Lynx at 6 p.m., then Game 5 of the same series (the one with the Nneka Ogwumike shot) at 8 p.m.
After that, at 10 p.m., we will see a replay of Game 5 of the 2018 WNBA semis between the Phoenix Mercury and Seattle Storm – the one where Sue Bird, mask and all, willed Seattle to 14 points in the 4th quarter to dispatch Phoenix from the playoffs.
And at midnight, ESPN2 will show the second round single-elimination contest between Phoenix and Connecticut.
