Olympic-wise, everyone’s focus is on this year’s Tokyo 2020 Olympics and if said Games will still happen as planned because of fears stoked by the global coronavirus outbreak.
Meanwhile, the Olympics will return to the United States in eight years when Los Angeles hosts its third Games, complimenting its 1932 and 1984 showings. LA28 made a recent hire of someone who brings WNBA experience to its Olympic effort.
Ann Rodriguez was tapped as chief strategy officer for LA28. She will be based in New York City and will report to Kathy Carter, its chief revenue officer and John Harper, LA28’s chief operating officer.
Rodriguez was previously the WNBA’s Senior Vice President of League Operations before being promoted to COO and Senior Vice President. She also held positions within the San Jose Earthquakes, Atlanta United and Under Armour.
