Until the WNBA retakes the court, many of its television partners that would typically be airing live WNBA games are having to dig into the vault for classic W content.
NESN, NBC Sports Washington/Monumental Sports Net and JoeTV are airing classic Connecticut Sun, Washington Mystics and Seattle Storm games respectively. The television partners for the Minnesota Lynx and Phoenix Mercury are digging into the crates as well.
Fox Sports North will air classic Lynx games and its equivalent in Arizona is doing the same for the Mercury.
FS North already aired one classic Lynx game on May 17 when Lindsay Whalen dished out 14 assists in September 2013 vs. the Sparks. A plethora of other Lynx games are also on FS North’s slate including on May 26 when it will air Minnesota defeating the Indiana Fever by 59 points – the largest margin in Lynx history – from August 2017. On May 31, it will re-air Sylvia Fowles’ 20-20 game from May 2018 when the Lynx faced the Dallas Wings. On July 7, it will air Maya Moore’s 48-point game vs. the Atlanta Dream from June 2014. Game 3 of the 2015 WNBA Finals and Game 5 of the 2017 Finals are also on tap for FS North.
In Arizona, the four games it will air are: Game 3 of the 2014 WNBA Finals, Game 5 of the ‘09 Finals, Game 4 of the ‘07 Finals and Game 5 of the ‘07 Finals. All, as expected came in seasons where the Mercury won WNBA titles (2007, ‘09, ’14)
