The name Shakyla Hill has been uttered from many people’s mouths inside and outside the women’s basketball realm as of late – and for great reason.
Grambling State defeated Alabama State by a final of 93-71 on Jan. 3, but the story of that game was her performance, which included 15 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 steals. The accomplishment was done in the waning moments of the game when Hill found Monisha Neal who made a three-pointer to put an exclamation point on the contest.
The last time someone had accomplished this was in 1993.
Hill’s name has more than likely been on everyone’s Twitter and Instagram feeds as well as she received an avalanche of praise on social media for the historic achievement.

When speaking with Michael Smith and Jemele Hill on SportsCenter, she felt that one of the best things about what she did was seeing her follower count on Instagram go through the roof. Currently, she was over 26,000 followers on Instagram.
I went from 8,000 followers to 20,000 followers in less than, like, 24 hours. So, I think that’s pretty big.
