Another WNBA player has added her name to the list of those that will retire at the end of the season. That player is San Antonio Stars center Jayne Appel-Marinelli.
She was drafted out of Stanford by the Stars in the 2010 WNBA Draft and played her whole career in central Texas with the Stars.
She ranks second in San Antonio history for blocks and third in field goal percentage. Appel-Marinelli also made the USA Basketball Women’s Team in the year she was drafted and was part of the team that won a gold medal at the FIBA World Champoinships.
“I feel extremely lucky to be able to say that I spent my entire career in San Antonio, playing alongside some of the best teammates and coaches to ever be a part of the game. To play in the WNBA and be a role model for young girls is something young players dream about. I am proud to say I have been a part of our league.”
