Even without Liz Cambage taking the floor for the Las Vegas Aces, a number of notable sports luminaries were in attendance at Mandalay Bay Events Center for the team’s home opener with the Los Angeles Sparks.
Among those were Damian Lillard, Oakland (soon to be Las Vegas) Raiders owner Mark Davis, and retired NBA great Kobe Bryant.
At the game, he was asked about the future of the Bryant name in basketball. It gets assumed among various corners of the basketball fandom that the next step is for a son of his to carry on that name ala LeBron James.
Except he has three daughters (little Mambas, if you will) and it may not be long before we see a Bryant (or two) in the W.
The WNBA is a beautiful game to watch.
–Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Times)
He took the team he coaches – his daughter’s club team – into the Las Vegas locker room where they got to meet Cambage and A’ja Wilson.
