Alston only saw 13 seconds of playing time for the Liberty in the team’s 87-76 victory over the Washington Mystics. She did not see playing time when New York defeated the Dallas Wings by a final of 79-71 in the team’s home opener on Sunday.
The move can be attributed to the fact that the Liberty are a guard-heavy team. New York, with Alston, fields eight guards on its current 12-player roster, including 5-foot-9 Epiphanny Prince who is currently serving a suspension.
The Liberty drafted Alston in the second round of this year’s WNBA Draft with the 24th overall pick out of The Ohio State University. She is fourth on the all-time Ohio State scoring list with 2,165 points.
