The New York Liberty’s 88-85 victory over the Chicago Sky was not only the 14th of this season for the team, it was also the 200th in the coaching career of Liberty head coach Bill Laimbeer.
Laimbeer, by virtue of the victory, became the seventh coach in WNBA history to notch win no. 200.
New York picked up the victory despite the Sky’s Allie Quigley providing 29 points for her team off the bench. Fortunately, for the Liberty, Tina Charles, the league’s leading scorer at 23.1 points per game, had 29 of her own. They also got 21 from Sugar Rodgers.
The number 16 also led to no. 14 for the team and 200 for Laimbeer. The Liberty outrebounded the Sky on the offensive glass, 16-8.
Congratulations to Coach Laimbeer! Reaching 200 wins is definitely a praiseworthy accomplishment.
