Earlier in the year, when it was announced that EA Sports’ NBA Live 18 would include a WNBA feature, it sent shockwaves through the women’s basketball landscape—and was a signature accomplishment in the young presidency of Lisa Borders.
The WNBA feature has made the upcoming EA Sports release one of the more ballyhooed in recent memory.
The game will be released Friday, but New York Liberty players received an advanced copy as part of a feature story written by Doug Feinberg at the Associated Press.
Shavonte Zellous and Sugar Rodgers gave the game a go.

When they put this out, I think everybody was so amazed. Like, ‘Oh my gosh. Finally here’s something for the women and not just for the men. So when you have little kids that’s looking up to us to try to be in the position like we are in and then to have a video game to, kind of, help that—it’s amazing.

It’s real cool because I used to have to create somebody that was a guy and put ‘Rodgers’ on the back. But it’s actually pretty cool just seeing it in the game and knowing that’s me.
