The green and black has slowly but surely become more of an emphasis for the Libs look over the years than the blue and orange. That look is now New York’s primary look as the Liberty unveiled its new logo – which is essentially an updated version of its previous secondary logo that became its primary mark last season.
While this new logo pays homage to our franchise history and the history of New York City, it also nods to our future and modernizes the team’s overall look.

This new chapter of Liberty basketball in Brooklyn will begin with the roll out of a new visual that energizes and excites our Liberty Loyals.

What do the colors mean? Says a team release, seafoam is symbolic of “patina” – the Statue of Liberty’s color “due to its aging process and copper’s reaction to the elements.” It also “represents strength, power and resilience.”
The black and white represents “the differences that unite players, fans and the city,” says the release. In no surprise, it is also a link between the Liberty and Brooklyn Nets.
For those looking to purchase merchandise featuring New York’s updated insignia, it will be available for presale the day following the draft. More merchandise will be available at a later date at the Liberty’s team store.
In addition to the Libs’ new colors and insignia, there was another bit of Liberty news that broke during yesterday’s pre-Draft conference call … and, no it did not have anything to do with our favorite mascot.
While we have been distracted from all things sports because of the ongoing fight against the you-know-what, it has been deafeningly silent on the Tina Charles front … until this news broke at the conference call.
