It started with a tweet…
Sooo @LuolDeng9 , I’m inviting you to come to a @nyliberty game to see the only #Sudanese in the WNBA. I think it’s time we meet! ?????

And then a response….

As the first player ever from South Sudan to play in the WNBA, it had to be something special when the New York Liberty’s Adut Bulgak had the opportunity to meet Luol Deng, who is also from South Sudan.
Deng, now with the Los Angeles Lakers, showed up at the New York Liberty’s recent matchup at Staples Center when the team played the Los Angeles Sparks.
But regardless of anything, for both the WNBA and NBA, having players from South Sudan in the same building, given their backgrounds was something that went beyond basketball.
Every time I see something about South Sudan, his name is attached to it. I’m really excited about the things he is doing for our nation.
