If one were to sum up Minnesota basketball in two words, the terms ‘Lindsey’ and ‘Whalen’ would be a good place to start.
While her playing days in the WNBA and with the Lynx may have drawn to a close, she still continues to stack up the accolades. At the Minnesota Sports Awards, Whalen won the honor of Minnesota’s Professional Athlete of the Year.
Congratulations to 4x #WNBA champion @Lindsay_13 on being named Minnesota’s Professional Athlete of the Year! 🏆 pic.twitter.com/7Am91Bn6Qi

With Whalen having retired from the W, she is now putting her full focus on her new job as coach of the women’s basketball team at her alma mater University of Minnesota.
Because of her coaching commitments, she was unable to attend the Minnesota Sports Awards, but Danielle Robinson accepted the award on Whalen’s behalf.
Accepted the MN Sports Award Professional Athlete of the Year for the amazing @Lindsay_13 tonight and I couldn’t be more honored. Congrats Linds!!!
