For Washington Mystics aficionados looking to once again relive the team’s first-ever championship from last season, Monumental Sports has a treat for all who live, breathe, eat, sleep and drink red, white and blue (from Founding fans to Inaugurals (get the D.C. reference?)).
The Mystics announced that last year’s semifinals against the Las Vegas Aces as well as last season’s WNBA Finals vs. the Connecticut Sun will be rebroadcast across NBC Sports Washington and the Monumental Sports Network.
Those games will be available via Monumental until April 30, per a Mystics release.
In addition, NBC Sports Washington will air the Mystics-Aces series on April 18 with its re-airing of the five-game contest with the Sun occurring on April 26.
Several Mystics players – including Elena Delle Donne, Ariel Atkins and Natasha Cloud will live-tweet from the Mystics’ Twitter account during NBC Sports Washington’s re-airing of the games. Assistant coach Eric Thibault will also participate.
Washington defeated Las Vegas in four games in last year’s semifinals prior to moving on to the Finals against the Connecticut Sun, which swept the Los Angeles Sparks. The Mystics and Sun series went the distance, but Washington pulled out an 89-78 victory at the DC Entertainment and Sports Arena to claim its first-ever WNBA championship.
Emma Meesseman claimed Finals MVP honors at Double-E-Double-S scored 22 points and was nine of 13 from the field in Washington’s victory.
