This week at the Jacob Burns Film Center in the New York area, it celebrated its 15th anniversary. Among those on hand was Washington Mystics president Sheila Johnson, who was honored with its Vision Award.
Former NBA Commissioner David Stern bestowed the honor to Johnson.

Of course, Johnson is known in WNBA circles as the Mystics’ president. Outside of basketball circles, she is well-credited with launching a network you may have heard of—BET. Johnson has also been an integral part of several documentary films as well as financing The Butler—directed by Lee Daniels and distributed by Harvey Weinstein.
The film won two NAACP Image Awards.
Congratulations, Sheila Johnson!
