The Seattle Storm turned a 16-point deficit into a tie game at the end of overtime. Breanna Stewart had a career high 25 points. Still, the Storm came up just short at Key Arena as the Washington Mystics upped its record to 2-3, topping the now 1-3 Storm by a final of 84-82.

Three finished in double-digits in scoring for Washington—Emma Messeman who had 19 (along with 13 rebounds for a double-double), Tayler Hill who finished with 18, and Ivory Latta who added 16.

Along with Stewart’s total, Seattle also got 15 points and five assists from Sue Bird. It was not the best of shooting nights for Jewell Loyd, who was held to four of 13 from the field and only nine points.

With 3:24 remaining in the third quarter, a three-pointer by Hill made it a 51-35 game. Offense and defense clicked together for the Storm as they outscored the Mystics 22-10 in the fourth quarter. This included a Loyd layup off an assist by Bird that tied it at 71.

Seattle had a pair of two-point leads in the extra period, but when the final buzzer sounded, the team from Washington, D.C. prevailed over the team from Washington state.

On Sunday, the Mystics will be in Arizona to play the surprisingly 0-3 Phoenix Mercury. The 1-3 Storm will remain at home as they await another 1-3 team—the Connecticut Sun.
