For a summer league that was supposed to spell trouble for the WNBA, as one columnist put it, signing former WNBA greats to head coaching positions is not exactly t-r-o-u-b-l-e.
But it is what the Big3 basketball league did recently with the announcement that Nancy Lieberman would assume the role as head coach of Team Power. The previous head coach, Clyde Drexler, stepped away from the role as he will take on the job of Big3 commissioner.
The Big3 will have its annual draft next month which will air on FS1 and Team Power is slated to fill three roster spots in addition to Corey Maggette and Cuttino Mobley. Lieberman was previously an assistant head coach with the Sacramento Kings.
Her experience and basketball acumen will stand out in the Big3, which is filled with star players and coaches. I couldn’t be happier to pass her the coaching torch.
–Clyde Drexler, Big3 commissioner
We have former NBA players and Hall of Fame coaches who still love the game, have a deep respect for the competition, and a passion to play competitive basketball. It’s in our DNA. Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz have provided this unique platform for all of us. Who’s got next?
–Nancy Lieberman
With this latest addition to our Big3 team, Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz have again demonstrated that they hire without regard to gender, race, religion, ethnicity and other individualities which have no bearing whatsoever on whether one can do a job.

The 2018 season for the Big3 will begin at Houston’s Toyota Center in June.
