This October, former two-time Olympic gold medalist and WNBA luminary Ruthie Bolton will be the keynote speaker for 34th Annual Top Ten Professional Women and Leading Business Awards.
Bolton was part of two Olympic gold-medal winning teams—the 1996 team in Atlanta and the 2000 team in Sydney. She averaged nearly 10 points a game for her career as well as almost 20 points a season when she first played in the WNBA.
Bolton was part of the Sacramento Monarchs from 1997 to 2004.
Recently, Bolton’s life, including her going through the pain of domestic violence was chronicled in the film “Mighty Ruthie” which aired on the SEC Network.
I hope that after sharing my story, other people dealing with domestic violence can feel empowered and know that without a doubt, they too, can turn their pain into power.

The event will be held on October 13 from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Fresno Convention Center and is being organized by the Marjaree Mason Center—named after a local individual who was a rising star in Fresno circles only to be beaten, raped, and eventually killed by her ex-boyfriend who was a Fresno County sheriff’s deputy.
Its website mentions that it is the only provider of shelter and support service available in Fresno County. Those services include safe houses, counseling, and legal assistance.
