Since Tamika Catchings retired, a hallmark of the Indiana Fever’s plan for the future has been stockpiling draft picks to build a potential juggernaut of young talent with a couple of veterans still on the team.

This trend continued for the Fever with its latest move, as Indiana made a trade with the Minnesota Lynx to send Shenise Johnson Minnesota’s way in a deal that sent a second round pick this year and a third-round selection in 2021 to the Fever.

Johnson was first selected in the 2012 draft by the San Antonio Silver Stars out of the University of Miami. She missed the last few games of last season because of a knee injury.

She joins a Lynx team that has transitioned out of its 2010s dynasty years and into a new era defined by young talent such as 2019 Rookie of the Year Napheesa Collier.
