Shoni Schimmel’s return to the New York Liberty turned out to be shorter than expected.
After sitting out last season, Schimmel had rejoined the Liberty at training camp and was looking very much forward to being a productive element to a winning formula in 2018.
Unfortunately for Schimmel, that was not the case as she was cut from the team. So, she rebounded by reuniting with her old New York coach, Bill Laimbeer, who is now at the helm of the Las Vegas Aces.

It feels great just to get back into the WNBA to be around fellow faces and fellow coaches.

I played for Bill before, and it’s been great just to come back and get familiar with him again and relearn everything.

She’s in the best shape I’ve seen her in, in years. I think she’s hungry to get back in the league.

The Aces are three days removed from their last preseason game – a 68-55 defeat to the Dallas Wings – and their first regular season as part of WNBA All Day when they travel to Connecticut to face the Sun.
