Onlookers that stroll, drive or take a train ride past Seattle’s primary indoor entertainment venue located in its Lower Queen Anne neighborhood will know for sure the building has a new name instead of its previous identity.
The artist formerly known as KeyArena, now Climate Pledge Arena, recently had its signage arrive at the building set to be installed at the top of said venue – where the former “key” logo for KeyArena once was. The new name was a result of Seattle-based Amazon buying the naming rights to the arena.
The arrival of the signage is the latest sign of its makeover as it prepares to once again be the home of the Seattle Storm as well as the expansion Seattle Kraken NHL team.

Climate Pledge Arena was originally scheduled to be completed in time for the 2021 WNBA season – meaning the Storm and not the Kraken would have been its first tenant. Due to construction complication as well as the coronavirus pandemic, the $900 million makeover is now scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2021.
The 2021-22 season is set to be first season for Seattle Kraken hockey.
