The Chicago Sky, this past Friday, defeated the Seattle Storm by a final score of 92-88. Regardless of the game result, it turned out to be a special occasion for one Chi-Town resident in particular.
Prior to the game, the Sky signed Taliyah Jackson, a 17-year old patient of La Rabida Children’s Hospital in Chicago, to a one-day contract. She has Mitochondrial Encephalitis and Ataxia.
Jackson has always wanted to be a basketball player and on Friday, she got the full experience. She and her family met the Sky players at morning shoot-around at Allstate Arena. Jackson even had a chance to take questions from media in attendance.
Welcome to @wnbachicagosky Taliyah Jackson! With you on the team, I’m sure the Sky will give @seattlestorm all they can handle!! Good luck!

Jackson also accompanied the Sky players in the locker and on the bench for the game against the Storm. She was also named as the honorary Player of the Game.
The Sky’s win over Seattle was not the only victory that Friday night. They made a young woman’s dream come true—and that means much more than wins and losses.
