The Seattle Storm’s Sue Bird was recently announced as one of the scheduled speakers to be on hand for the second annual GeekWire Sports Tech Summit to be held in the Emerald City from June 21-22 at CenturyLink Field.
Its website says the event convenes many of sports’ forward-leading thinkers in the realms of virtual reality, sports marketing, data science and other fields. It will also include many seminars as well as a Seattle Sounders soccer match.
The topic that Bird will primarily mention is how sports technology has affected how she practices and plays. She was part of a panel on sports technology earlier this year at the CES conference in Las Vegas that also included NBA commissioner Adam Silver.
Among the attendees will also be Erik Anderson, CEO of Topgolf Entertainment Group, and Russ D’Souza, who co-founded a ticketing app called SeatGeek. Last year’s event featured Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and the Seahawks’ Doug Baldwin among others.
