Last season, three of the greatest players in WNBA history—Swin Cash, Tamika Catchings, and Penny Taylor all bid farewell to their playing days.
Cash and Taylor already landed jobs in team front offices. Recently, Catch did the same.
To go along with her being an analyst at the SEC Network, her recently purchasing a local tea shop, and her continued initiatives with the Catch the Stars Foundation, Catchings has landed a position within Pacers Sports and Entertainment as Director of Player Programs and Franchise Development with the Indiana organization. It is a similar position to the one that Cash landed with the Liberty and Taylor got with the Mercury.
Her position is a broad one as it includes working with the Fever and Pacers as well as with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants—the Indiana Pacers’ D-League franchise.
Per a press release, the position will allow Catchings to help with player developmental programs as well as community outreach. Other important aspects of the job include recruitment of free agents for all franchises and helping get players ready for their careers after basketball.
I’m excited. I know it’s going to be a challenge and I know it’s going to be a learning experience. But, I think that’s the coolest part about it.
–Tamika Catchings
The number one thing is knowing the players. Knowing the organization and knowing the players that we have and already having relationships with them I think will go a long way.
–Tamika Catchings
As an organization we are committed to the growth and development of our players. There is no one better who can have the kind of impact on our individual players like Tamika. I am thrilled beyond words to have her on our staff.
