With the New Orleans Pelicans set to begin a new era under a new coach in Stan Van Gundy, it was to surely come with a reset for the coaching staff.
That reset will include the promotion of Teresa Weatherspoon, who played all but one season of her WNBA career with the New York Liberty, to a full-time coaching position.

She previously split time between the Pels and the teamβs Pennsylvania-based G-League team. She will now be an assistant under Van Gundy in the Crescent City.
Her ascent within the Pelicans puts her in a similar role occupied by several women who are also assistant coaches with their teams β most notably, Becky Hammon, an assistant coach under Gregg Popovich with the San Antonio Spurs.
