With bubble/wubble life for our fave basketball players wrapping up, many WNBA players are taking their talents overseas to begin their seasons with their international teams where they earn more money (for now) than in the WNBA.
Others are also putting more time into philanthropic efforts – a common thread among the W’s ecosystem. Enter Tianna Hawkins of the Washington Mystics and John Wall of the Mystics’ Monumental Sports brothers – the Wizards.
On an episode of Good Morning America, Hawkins showed up and presented a $10,000 check to Donna Hopkins, a survivor of breast cancer.
Hopkins is a sports reporter who has worked for the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN), one of two major sports channels in the Washington, D.C. area. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997 and again in 1999, according to the Hopkins Breast Cancer website. Hopkins Breast Cancer provides financial assistance to those in the DMV that are fighting the illness.
We surprised Donna Hopkins, this deserving breast cancer thriver and sports lover, with a surprise from @WashMystics star Tianna Hawkins and a $10,000 check from @JohnWall to support her mission to help people with breast cancer! 💕 pic.twitter.com/pMFvCIqo7Q
