As the U.S. Women’s National Team prepares for the upcoming Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, USA Basketball announced its 11-member Select Team this week, that will feature players that will likely be on center stage for the team in future Games.
On the team are: Kelsey Bone, Kahleah Cooper, Stefanie Dolson, Natasha Howard, Jewell Loyd, Tiffany Mitchell, Aerial Powers, Sugar Rodgers, Odyssey Sims, Kiah Stokes, and Elizabeth Williams.
The team is slated to train alongside the Olympic team later this month in Los Angeles and will play an exhibition against the Olympic team on July 25 at the Galen Center on the campus of the University of Southern California.
Having them train against our USA National Team will not only help us prepare for Rio, but it will also give us a chance to evaluate them for future USA Basketball teams. I’ve already had the opportunity to work with several of them in a USA Basketball National Team setting, and I’m really looking forward to seeing them as well as the rest of the USA Select Team in this kind of setting.

After the July 25 exhibition, the Olympic team will play three more exhibitions in the latter part of the month in Delaware on July 27 (vs. France), in Connecticut on July 29 (vs. Canada) and on July 31 in New York City (vs. Australia).
