This year’s rendition of the USA Basketball Women’s National Team is once again favored to bring home the gold after returning from Rio de Janeiro. If they do, it will be the team’s sixth consecutive gold medal and their eighth in nine Olympics.

Team USA made it five in a row at the last Summer Games in London. At The O2 Arena (renamed the North Greenwich Arena for the duration of the Games because of Olympic bylaws regarding corporately sponsored venues), the team capped off an 8-0 showing in London with an 86-50 victory of France as the representatives from the United States once again donned gold medals.

A 19-0 third quarter run made this game academic after Team USA led by 12 at the half at 37-25. Candace Parker had a game-high 21 points.
