We have answers!
Amidst a plethora of speculation and frustration from women’s basketball fans about the lack of information regarding the WNBA Draft, the league has finally let the details be known.
In a statement, the league announced the Draft will emanate from the Samsung 837 building in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. Television and online coverage of the Draft will be provided by ESPN2 and ESPNU.
The scheduled date of the Draft is April 13, a Thursday—previously the officially announced date after an initial CBS Sports report that said it would take place on April 10—a Monday.
The press release also plugged how the day of the Draft coincides with leaguewide ticket sales beginning for all 12 teams.
The draft is a launching point for our 21st season and represents a cherished moment for these players as they begin their quest to make a mark on the WNBA. We are very pleased that our broadcast partner ESPN will once again be providing in-depth coverage and sharing the stories of these young women.
–WNBA president Lisa Borders per press release
While many fans finally got relief that they now know about the Draft’s location and time, many also keyed in on one startling detail buried at the bottom of the league’s press release.

I was not at any of drafts in Secaucus; I know it was only open to the public a few times. I just think it was nice for the players & fans https://t.co/U9Txpzpn2o

I had to take google Samsung 837 – that place looks UNREAL. Lucky media members and family + draftees that get to go. #wnbadraft

An unusual development to say the least. And that may be putting it mildly…
