Remember that WNBA Finals preview everyone was talking about between the Sparks and Lynx?

That seems to be coming to reality barring a monumental collapse by either. Minnesota leads 2-0 over Phoenix, and the Los Angeles Sparks defeated the Chicago Sky by a final score of 99-84 to assume a 2-0 lead in its best-of-five series.

The Sky, once again shorthanded without Elena Delle Donne, witnessed as Jantel Lavender, Candace Parker, and Nneka Ogwumike combined for 58 of those 99. Parker and Lavender each had 20 and Ogwumike scored 18.

On the Sky’s end of things, Clarissa dos Santos dropped 15, Jamierra Faulkner added 14, and Cappie Pondexter contributed 13.

In addition to what Lavender, Parker, and Ogwumike did for Los Angeles, the Sparks also had an offense that was powered by the three-point shot. The Sparks sinked 10 out of their 23 three-pointers for this game. Four of the treys came via Kristi Tolliver (who had 15 points overall) and three from Essence Carson (who had 11).

If that three-point shooting shows up at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois—then one can pencil in the Sparks into the WNBA Finals.
