The WNBA’s plans to have its season take place in Florida at the IMG Academy were already much-maligned by many – especially with Florida’s coronavirus case load becoming among the highest in the nation with no signs of abating thanks to a botched response by governor Ron DeSantis.
But he has deemed sports “essential” in his state which is why the WNBA, MLS and NBA are all sequestering in “clean sites” in Florida (and why WWE and AEW are still holding events in the Sunshine State).
With teams having to report by July 6, WNBA players that did make their way down to the Florida “Wubble” got a first look at how life for them would be like for the next three months.
