VOTE.
We have less than 40 days until our votes will be counted in what is unquestionably the most important election in our lifetimes. So it is imperative to ensure as many people as possible find their ways to the polls.
Whether it has been on the court at the wubble or on social media, WNBA players from Renee Montgomery to A’ja Wilson to Breanna Stewart to Layshia Clarendon have used their platforms to encourage as many people as possible to vote this election season.
The latest effort that WNBA players are part of to spread the message on the importance of voting is called “Hoopers Vote,” a partnership with Rock The Vote.
Among its ambassadors are Clarendon, Nneka Ogwumike, Lisa Leslie and Alex English – a Basketball Hall of Famer who has received a great deal of praise on social media for being a huge advocate for the W.
Another one of its advocates is Jaren Jackson, Jr. – the son of the WNBPA’s Terri Jackson. It also includes James Worthy, Jason Collins, Jalen Rose, Kenny Smith, Channing Frye and Quentin Richardson among others.
Hoopers Vote Day was this past Thursday – September 24.
According to ESPN, the website will be a one-stop-shop for the basketball ecosystem to become further knowledgeable about state-by-state voting procedures and how to register to vote.
My polling place is a high school gym. I will literally cast my ballot on the three-point line. #HoopersVote

OK so I am not a hooper 🏀⛹🏾♀. But I am a voter🗳. And I know that to be an athlete is to be a leader. Leaders stand up and make not only their voice heard, but the voices around them. And that’s why they vote. Check your voting status at https://t.co/AwWbfq7nvu @rockthevote pic.twitter.com/8ekDUOBzsv
