As we all know, WNBA players are among the most socially conscious athletes in sports – and the WNBA community as a whole is among the most socially conscious communities there is.

Given this, one knows many within the W were glued to the ongoing build-up to Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s selection for who would be his vice presidential runningmate.

Among those said to be considered for the gig included former UN Ambassador Susan Rice, Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Florida representative Val Demings and former Georgia governor candidate Stacey Abrams (also now part of the WNBPA’s Board of Advocates).

Instead, Biden went in another direction – and chose another Black woman for the job: U.S. Senator from California – Kamala Harris.

Biden needed something to provide a much-needed shot in the arm for his campaign. Judging from a cavalcade of tweets sent out since the announcement, Harris joining the campaign appears to have done just that.

With the W being 90 percent Black women, one knows the W community would be more than hyped about seeing true representation on the Democratic party’s ticket. And it is.

What the New York Liberty veteran said.

Harris is also no stranger to WNBA circles. When she ran for president, she attended a fundraiser in Seattle that also included what many consider the first couple of women’s sports – Sue Bird (Seattle Storm) and Megan Rapinoe.

With Biden being from Delaware, one can guess he is a huge fan of another notable from the First State – Elena Delle Donne. And he is.

Shortly after Biden departed from his role as Vice President (and left us at the mercy of you-know-who), he sent this letter to Delle Donne after she became part of the Washington Mystics.

A Biden-Harris election would mean Delaware’s very own would have plenty of opportunities to cheer for another of Delaware’s very own at the DC Sports and Entertainment Arena.

Oh…and can we get the Bay Area a WNBA team while we’re at it?
