Thanks to the greatness of Megan Gustafson, no women’s basketball player will ever wear No. 10 ever again.
It was an emotional occasion at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City when the Hawkeyes honored Gustafson, currently with the Dallas Wings in the WNBA by retiring her jersey No. 10, ensuring it would never be worn again by an Iowa player.
Gustafson was honored in front of over 13,000 fans at the stadium that were sent home happy that they got to witness Hawkeyes history – as well as a 74-57 victory by the current class of Hawkeyes.
Her first year in the WNBA was somewhat tumultuous after getting cut by the Wings only to be resigned. But it was the black and gold of Iowa that set up her up to don the lime green and blue of the Wings in the W.
