And it appears, thanks to a recent agreement that the NBPA brokered with the NBA, that some polling locations may very well be WNBA arenas.
As everyone knows, the shooting of Jacob Blake prompted plenty of symbolic action from the sporting realm – including a postponement of an NBA playoff game between the Milwaukee Bucks and Orlando Magic. A number of other leagues – including the W – postponed its games from the previous Wednesday and Thursday.
Ironically, one of the games that was postponed and later moved to another date – was the New York Liberty’s annual UNITY game, which was slated to be vs. the Dallas Wings on August 27. That game has now been rescheduled for Sept. 13 at 12 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
Included in the NBPA-NBA deal was the conversion of team-owned NBA arenas into polling locations for the upcoming election. A few of those, obviously, also house WNBA teams.
As of today, five NBA arenas also are home to WNBA teams. Those five are Barclays Center (New York Liberty), Staples Center (Los Angeles Sparks), Target Center (Minnesota Lynx), Talking Stick Resort Arena (Phoenix Mercury) and Bankers Life Fieldhouse (Indiana Fever).
We know the status of Staples and Bankers Life as polling locations as the Los Angeles Lakers and Pacers Sports and Entertainment issued announcement via social media.

Prior to the coronavirus, Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum was set to be the home venue for Phoenix Mercury home games. Reports out of the Valley of the Sun have since come out that the arena was secured by the Mercury and Phoenix Suns to as well be a polling site for the election – in a state that could go either way in November.
