Team Delle Donne, Team Wilson select All-Star Game rosters

The first-ever WNBA All-Star selection special took place on ESPN on Tuesday night which saw the rosters for the two teams – Team (Elena) Delle Donne and Team (A’ja) Wilson get selected.

As a result of the fan vote, Delle Donne went first followed by Wilson when selecting the starters and Wilson picked first from the pool of reserves.

Team Delle Donne, which lost last year’s All-Star Game to Team (Candace) Parker 119-112 in Minnesota, will include Brittney Griner (Phoenix Mercury), Jewell Loyd (Seattle Storm), Jonquel Jones (Connecticut Sun) and Kia Nurse (New York Liberty) as starters with Delle Donne. Wilson’s four picks were Chelsea Gray (Los Angeles Sparks), Kayla McBride (Las Vegas Aces), Liz Cambage (Las Vegas Aces) and Natasha Howard (Seattle Storm).

Reserves-wise, Team Wilson includes Sylvia Fowles (Minnesota Lynx), Diamond DeShields (Chicago Sky), Allie Quigley (Chicago Sky), Napheesa Collier (Minnesota Lynx), Erica Wheeler (Indiana Fever), Candice Dupree (Indiana Fever), and Odyssey Sims (Minnesota Lynx). For Team Delle Donne, Kristi Toliver (Washington Mystics), DeWanna Bonner (Phoenix Mercury), Nneka Ogwumike (Los Angeles Sparks), Courtney Vandersloot (Chicago Sky), Tina Charles (New York Liberty) and Alyssa Thomas (Connecticut Sun) are on its roster.

The Collier and Charles picks were traded by the two teams, putting Charles on Team Delle Donne and Collier on Team Wilson. The two coaches – Bill Laimbeer and Mike Thibault – were also traded putting Laimbeer with Team Wilson and Thibault with Team Delle Donne.

Team Delle Donne will wear white uniforms with Team Wilson sporting red uniforms. Napheesa Collier is replacing the injured Wilson for Saturday’s game.
